Bad news bear....News from my company today

So I no longer have a job... and to help explain why, here are the details that were just released to the public: RealNetworks lays off 9 percent in music division by Greg Sandoval Entertainment software company Real Networks laid off 12 employees within its music division or about 9 percent of the division staff, the company said Thursday. The cuts come a week after RealNetworks reported marked decreases in the number of subscribers at its Rhapsody music subscription and online radio units. Rhapsody, which is partly owned by Viacom's MTV Networks, lost 50,000 of its 800,000 subscribers over the past three months, RealNetworks said last week in its second-quarter earnings report. In addition, a partnership with telecom company Comcast ended and that was blamed for a dramatic drop-off in RealNetworks' radio subscribers, from 1.2 million down to 75,000, the company reported. That's not a typo. When Comcast discontinued the service, more than 1.1 million no longer had access t...

USDA RELEASES ANNUAL STUDY WHICH NOTES THAT CHILD BORN IN 2008 WILL COST $221,190 TO RAISE WASHINGTON, Aug. 4, 2009 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture today released a new report, Expenditures on Children by Families, finding that a middle-income family with a child born in 2008 can expect to spend about $221,190 ($291,570 when adjusted for inflation) for food, shelter, and other necessities to raise that child over the next seventeen years. Issued by USDA each year since 1960, the report is a valuable resource to courts and state governments in determining child support guidelines and foster care payments. For the year 2008, annual child-rearing expenses for a middle-income, two-parent family ranges from $11,610 to $13,480, depending on the age of the child. The report by USDA's Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion notes that family income affects child rearing costs. A family earning less than $56,870 per year can expect to spend a total of $159,870 (in 2008 dollars) on...

mental note: Don't come to work at 8:50am

I had a rough start this morning because our little dude decided to wake up at 3am and then not go back to bed until about 4:30am. That was ok by me but the problem was that I had to be up and at work by 7am. No bueno. I did not get to work by 7, instead I arrived near my office around 8:45am. The problem with this time is that we work right next to the main UPS hub for San Francisco and ALL, I mean every single UPS truck starts pulling out of the huge warehouse type garage at around 8:45am-9am. Its a NUT HOUSE during this time. There are brown huge UPS trucks ALL OVER THE PLACE! I'm in my small ass car, there's construction everywhere and I have to dodge UPS trucks left and right while trying to parallel park into a small spot where I'm lucky if I can squeeze in doing a 500 point backup. ARGHHHHH!!!!! Why can't my company have a normal parking garage? Is that too much to ask? Why can't UPS trucks leave a warehouse somewhere more desolate? WHY WHY WHY? Happy Tuesday...

Duude, July just came and went in such a hurry. What happened!! I am in shock that the summer is almost over. Its been a whirl wind with almost every weekend packed with fun events with family and friends. I can't complain but it would be nice to get away with my hubbie and baby for a week to some far off island in the middle of no where. I could be stranded on an island with those 2 and be a happy woman for the rest of my life :) I am very excited for August and more so for my 31st birthday. What a year 30 has been. I have to say my 30th year will be one of my most unforgettable because that is the age where I gave birth to the most amazing and handsome boy. Leonidus made my 30th year of life start with a huge celebration, one that will never end. Neil and I have been busy with life and its crazy how the time we get to spend as a family become more and more important as Leonidus grows. I totally sense that he is elated when we do things, the 3 of us (and even with more family). He...
