picnic disaster
I had a brilliant idea this week and that was to surprise my boo Neil with a picnic in the park. He works in Milpitas and there is a great spot by a lake in the Calaveras Hills and next to that there's also a huge dog park. Neil is always saying how he misses me and the dogs when he's at work so I thought I'd plan a picnic and have him meet me for lunch.
So I got the dogs, sandwiches, fruit, dessert.. ThE WOrKs. Packed my car and headed up the hills. The dogs were so excited when we got there. I called Neil and gave him directions to the undisclosed location. I had him enter it into his navigation system. Kinda cool... he basically had to follow the lady on the thing without a clue as to where he was going.
As the doggies and I waited, I arranged everything on the table... then took Rocco and Peezy for a stroll. We were walking by the lake and this was Peezy's first time in a huge park like this... with ducks and stuff. So anyways, we are walking by they lake when I drop his leash on accident and he runs off... runs.. runs... runs straight into the lake in a diving motion chasing a duck! I couldn't believe it. I screamed after him but it was too late. I also didn't know whether dogs drowned or not so I was really scared!
I finally got him back to shore and he was soaked!! My entire outfit was covered in water and mudd so there went trying to look cute for neil. =(
As we were walking back to the table, we saw Neil pull up. we sat, ate, chilled and it was perfect. We decided to walk over to the dog park and about 10 minutes into the playing it started POURING... not just sprinkles.. a torrential downpour. Neil ran over to the picnic stuff and packed it up as I played with the dogs in the rain. We didn't know if we wanted to leave because when we looked up in the sky the rain clouds were literally ONLY over the park we were at. Everywhere else was super sunny. WHAT GIVES!!
We were basically screwed and my picnic ended up being only an hour long. It was also hard having to get 2 wet muddy dogs into my car and ugh.. it was just annoying to have to do all that stuff when it was suppose to be Sunny!
Regardless, the dogs had a blast and I think Neil liked the gesture of me planning all of this but I had envisioned something a little longer and warmer. Oh well, this was good practice. Next time, My picnic is gonna be ten times better (i hope).
