I cannot believe yesterday's World Cup Game!

Tremendous Italy proved the World that they are the best team in the world. How could such a team advance? Their Defense. As a soccer player for over 20 years I know how games are played and I know how they are won. Offense does a lot but a solid defense will take you to the championships. Italy's goal keeper Gianluigi Buffon has been unstoppable. Besides an Italy own goal (against USA) and a Penalty shot goal by psycho Zidane, he has stopped every goal in the tournament. Apparently, Buffon went 460 minutes without allowing a goal which also sets a record as the fourth longest streak in WC tournament history. Other italian players that I enjoyed watching were guys like Materazzi, who never gave up and worked hard every game. Even despite Zidane headbutting the poor guy in the chest, he walked away the bigger person and with a big V for VICTORY. Then there was Fabio Cannavaro, one of the best defenders I've seen. He had so much heart and determination out on the field, regardless of the score. Cannavaro was a solid player and I think he was one of the top five players in the WC tournament. That's not all. Other guys like Pirlo and Grosso also stepped up and contributed to Italy's success. I can go one forever about this team but they were outstanding. You can see how much team unity they had when they were celebrating their win. Italy's amazing win over France was their 4rth all time World Cup win, the last one being in 1982.


In regards to Zidane's shameful and pitiful act on the field, I thought that was just unreal. How can a man, who is at the top of his game and moments from possibly winning the world cup and saying good bye to the game finish up with such a disgusting act. Some british newspapers are trying to excuse his behaviour by stating that the France captain Zinedine Zidane was apparently called a 'dirty terrorist' by Marco Materazzi before he head-butted the Italy defender in Sunday's World Cup final, This came from the anti-racism group SOS Racism.

"It is absolutely not true, I did not call him a terrorist. I'm ignorant. I don't even know what the word means," the Italian news agency Ansa quoted Materazzi as saying after the Italian team returned to Rome.

"The whole world saw what happened on live TV," he added.

Honestly, I don't care what Materazzi said to Zidane. He could have made fun of his bald head for all I care, all that matters is that ZIDANE STRAIGHT HEAD BUTTED THE GUY in the chest in front of billions!! How IDIOTIC DO YOU HAVE TO BE??? It'll be interesting when Zidane talks about this in a few days. French newspapers claim that he will hold a press conference in a few days. Italy deserved that win in more ways than one.

That clip right there will stay with Zidane for the rest of his life. Do you guys see that he starts running away and then comes back to do the head butt. Why didn't he keep running? Could he possibly be bipolar? I would plee the bipolar defense and try to get sympathy votes from fans who are willing to buy into it. OR, I would continue to play soccer regardless of the fact that I said I would retire, just so I could make an attempt to erase that scene from everyone's head OR I would donate all the money I made to some poor country to try and erase some of the bad karma.... Whatever. there are a lot of "I shoula woula coula's here".

I hope you guys all check out this interesting article I found online today that pretty much wraps up everything that happened in the world cup tournament these past few months. I've enjoyed this tournament and I'm really sad that it's over. My faves were Iran, USA, Brazil and Italy, I wish Iran & USA did better but I have to say that I'm happy that one of my favorite teams of four won. Till 2010, I'll miss the tournament but hopefully will be in Africa for the next world cup.
