Thank goodness that its not just me having a hard time to live in San Jose. When you think of the richest cities in california, the average American probably thinks of:

BUT according to a government national survey, San Jose came in as the richest big city in California. WOW. With home sales average price of $600,000, its no surprise that San Josers are working day and night to pay for living expenses.... Here's more on this story:

San Jose led the nation's biggest cities in median income in 2006, according to a government report Tuesday.

Among cities with a population over 500,000, San Jose's median income of $73,804 topped No. 2 San Francisco at $65,497 and No. 3 San Diego at $58,815.
Median income in California ranked ninth in the nation, up about 2.3 percent at $56,645, according to the U.S. Census Bureau's Current Population Survey.
Santa Clara County ranked 17th among the country's 800 largest counties with a median income of about $80,800. It was No. 2 in the state, behind only Marin County.
