Movies and more...Cloverfield and Juno

TV sucks lately. I mean when I get home the last thing on my mind is turning on the tube. Shows have been so shitty! What the heck dude. One of my favorite shows 'criminal minds' has gone to poop because the new writers are just awful. I think I could write better scripts!!

Due to the lack of interesting television programming, I've turned to watching movies. I rarely ever watched movies on work nights, mostly because I'd always fall asleep in the middle of it and would always leave the movie half-finished. Neil has a thing where he can't fall asleep in the middle of a movie so he always finishes them which totally sucks because I hate watching movies with people who have already seen it. I know I'm weird but that bugs me. Just this week, I got to see 2 movies that are getting a lot of hype in the press. My hyphy ass loves hype so I wanted to share my opinion on the movies with my readers.... The following reviews are for CloverField and Juno. Let's make it rain...
Cloverfield Movie Review

Synopsis:
On the eve of his departure for Japan, Rob (Michael Stahl-David) sees his going-away party as an opportunity to confess unresolved feelings and tie up loose ends. His agenda takes an unexpected turn when a jolt shakes the revelers. MORE FROM ROTTEN TOMATOES (my favorite movie site)

My thoughts on the movie:
Cloverfield was very interesting. The movie hype did live up to its potential but don't go see the movie expecting something breathtaking or an Oscar nominee. Cloverfield is a movie that's exciting and different. The only problem with the movie is that its as if you are watching a long home movie... including all of the nauseating videography. I was very dizzy at some points, so bad that I had to shut my eyes. However, the movie and the plot had me intrigued to where I didn't want to leave. For many viewers, they either liked it or hated it. Some of my fellow co-workers hated it but I think you should judge it for yourself.

Juno Movie Review

Synopsis:
The word "quirky" has become the quick and easy way to describe films such as LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE and LARS AND THE REAL GIRL that straddle the lines between indie and studio films and comedy and drama...MORE FROM ROTTEN TOMATOES

My thoughts on the movie:
I also saw Juno tonight and it was really cool. My friend Cristina had mentioned it was worth catching plus I had heard great things about the soundtrack so I gave the movie a shot. Juno was cute. Cute Cute Cute. I had heard all of the Oscar buzz surrounding the movie and just had to see what the fuss was all about and I was impressed. Juno, which the name of the main character in the movie, and she gets knocked up. The way she handles the entire situation as a 16 year old was quite impressive. I thought the film was simple and filmed sorta like Napoleon Dynamite and I absolutely loved Juno's quirky character. I also really like Michael Cera (also in SuperBad and Arrested Development) so it was nice to see him and his dorky ass in another movie where he plays his geekness to perfection once again. I think this is a great movie for everyone, boys and girls alike. This is totally my type of movie; although the ending has some emotional highs and lows which makes me cry but whatever. Go see it.
