update 1: Neil's out of surgery

Its 11:30ish pm and Neil is out of surgery and laying here next to me. Today was a loooong day. It was nonetheless interesting.

Neil and I checked into the hospital patient waiting area for about 30 minutes. Neil was then sent to pre-op and surprisingly I was allowed to go for the ride. Pre-op consisted of questions, some test analysis (i.e temp, heart rate) followed by the eval and good stuff from the anesthesiologist. The anesthesiologist seemed fairly young... in fact, everyone at UCSF is young and good looking I might add. What is this, Grey's Anatomy? Who's sleeping with who! Anyways, the anesthesiologist had a doo-rag on with chilli peppers. Automatically he was cool. He actually was one of the guys that started this non-profit called Orthojamaica. Check it out. Anyhoo, Neil got shot up and I walked him to the OR door and kissed him good-bye.

I waited a LONG 5 hours before hearing anything BUT the doctor called and I was able to hear the news I wanted. Neil woke up. That is the scariest part of surgery for me and as long as he woke up out of his procedure, I was fine. Next, the Doctor gave me a good overall feeling about the operation. He mentioned he found 2 additional and much bigger neuroma's with his tibial and sciatic nerve and in addition to his paranneal nerve, he said no wonder the poor guy's been in so much pain. I was thrilled to hear it but I have to keep the excitement a little steady until Neil is healed up and we can really assess the progress. I got off the phone and had to wait a couple more hours for Neil to leave the 'recovery' area.

Neil's mom and her awesome boyfriend Darryl arrived shortly after and we all got to finally go and see Neil around 8pm. He looked good and although Neil's mom Linda got emotional because she hates seeing him go through this, she even said that she had a strong positive feeling about this time.

Well, I am off to get some zz's. I got a recliner here inches away from neil's bed. He's passed out so I'm going to steal the headphones to the sweet plasma screen they have in his room. Its small but it sure beats those old tube tv's that were like at the other end of the room! This is suh-weet.

Good time. Positive thoughts become positive things. Remember it. Its the secret :)
Peace and Good night.
