How cool is today!! 8 - 8 - 8!!

This day won't come again for a long time... and no wonder its special. Its the start of the olympics (8-8-08 at exactly 8:08 a.m), my last day of being 29 and I get to see junior today at my doctor appointment! can't beat that. According to chinese folks, today, 8/8/8 is the most auspicious days ever for the Chinese culture. Tons of people are getting married today and even inducing their labor (don't worry i won't) to have their baby born on this particular day.

I love the #8. My favorite number is actually 18 which contains 8 but do you really know why 8 is so popular? Well here I did some research and got some more insight on this fabulous digit:
  • In Cantonese [the language of Southern China and Hong Kong], the word for 'fah' means 'eight,' but also sounds like the word for 'make a lot of fortune'. Thus in a homonym-crazy society like China's: Eight equals lucky
  • The number eight is considered lucky by numerologists
  • Last year, 7/7/07 was an extremely popular wedding date, and planners say they are expecting people to choose 9/9/09 as well, as the word for the number nine in Mandarin sounds like the word for longevity.
  • This day wont come again till 8/8/2088
  • 400 percent increase in weddings that are being held today
  • August 8, 2008, actually does add up to 8: 8-8-2008, or 16 + 10 = 26 = 8
  • In Indian numerology the number 8 is ruled by Saturn and denotes a hard worker and eventual success
  • Many esoteric teachings reveal that the number 8, the lemniscate or infinity symbol turned on its side, represents the achievement of balance and correction of imbalance. In the Tarot, 8 is the number of accomplishment and achievement.

Well there you go, now its up to you to make this day special. After work, I am going to take my dogs to the dog park (since walking is not easy for me) and I am going to celebrate life and consider myself lucky to be alive, healthy and surrounded by such friggin' awesome family and friends.

Talk about lucky sons of bitches, if you didn't get a chance to see the Spartan's nearly dominate the Hawaii Rainbow pansies, then you missed one heck of a game. ( picture slideshow courtesy of the SJ Mercury News ) The game began at 5pm and the weather was crap... rain was pouring and the fans were a few... that was until the sun came out and the fans began arriving, reaching to 20,000+ packing the Spartan stadium. ESPN packed the house in the press-box, scouts were hovering around the media stations, trying to find a good seat and stadium workers ran around the stands wiping down seats so people's rears could remain dry. The Hawaii Rainbow Pansies were the talk of football and everyone was expecting SJSU to lose and to lose big. The spread for the game had Hawaii favored by 20+ points. thug night...pack up your eggs baby!

I updated this story.. so if you read it. Reread it. I missed some very important points. ******************************************************************************** What seemed like a normal Tuesday night .. turned out to be quite interesting. First off, I got home lastnight from work before Neil. I was working from home when Neil got home and said let's take the dogs for a walk and grab coffe and go to the grocery store.. Good Ole Zanatto's. We got the dogs dressed and heade d out. After grabbing coffee and groceries, we start heading back home. The walk home is about 3 blocks but we pass many bars and many thugs on our route home. lastnights thug count was out of control. We were walking towards blockbuster/farenheight on San Fernando when we walk past a group of teenagers... about 10 of them. They seemed nice... One of the boys calls Rocco over. Football Widow 2010

Its Football Friday at the Parry House again. For those that don't know, my hubbie is the defensive coordinator for the Sobrato High School Football Team. They are so far 2-1 (Ugh that loss still hurts) and they are ready to play again tonight against Independence High school in San Jose. Here's their entire upcoming schedule The game should be good and if the boys come out to play, they should get the BIG W! Let's go BullDogs! A common terminology used by woman married to men that coach football is that during football season you are a football widow. It is NO JOKE. I thought that football was time consuming when Neil played back at SJSU but NOW, its CRAZY!! Coaching is a very time consuming job, especially if you are super into it like my husband is. Practice M-F afternoon/evening, games friday nights and football planning half the day on a SUNDAY!! With 2 boys at home with me, its super hard because Neil is so tied up with football!! I love love love football season ...
