As 30 nears...

I'm about to turn 30 in just a few and I am not sure if its that reality hasn't set in but I am not trippin' at all. I always dreaded this moment because unlike ages 16, 18, 21... there is nothing special about being 30 except for the fact that you can't say "I'm in my 20's". I also always envisioned spending my 30th birthday party in Vegas getting absolutely annihilated and having fun with my fam/friends. That is so not going to happen while I just hit my 30th week of pregnancy. It's actually funny. I'll be 30 weeks pregnant when i turn 30. that's kinda funni. Many people have told me a lot of fantastic things about the 30's. Here are a few things I've heard:

(1) You are very self aware and confident so you can enjoy life a lot more
(2) There is a sense of peace in your life
(3) You know what you want and are more driven to achieve it (maybe that's because you realize that you're getting OLD!)
(4) Typically you'll have more money during your 30's allowing you to do much more.

Well I look at those 4 things and have tried to repeat them to myself everyday so I can assure myself things will be OK. It also doesn't help that every time I turn on the news, everything is sad. The economy is HORRIBLE, job and house rates are both at an all time low. Gas is super duper expensive. and my dad told me that 90% of Americans do not own anything. That means, most Americans are paying off their house, cars, even the shirts off their back with credit. How can I be motivated to grow old in a country that seems to be so depressingly structured? I just have to keep the current state of our economy and nation separate from my birthday and age. They have nothing to do with one another. (sure)

The only thing about turning 30 that I am excited about is that (1) I get to meet my beautiful baby boy soon and (2) I get to get married this year to my Nini, a man that I could not imagine living my life without. So I guess in a way, I am excited for the coming year.

I've also read something that Andy Rooney from 60 minutes has said about women in their 30's. Its kinda cute and if you are about to turn 30, its worth reading. Click here to check it out.

Regardless of what age I am going to be, my Nini has planned a fun brunch for me and my family at my ALL-TIME favorite spot, Mission Ranch in Carmel, CA. The brunch sounds especially appetizing now since I'm preggers and have a new found enjoyment in food (minus the dreaded heartburn). This is a spot that I'm sure you've heard me talk about before and is a place my family and I have gone to for YEARS.

Well I am off to tackle work. Have a great day and I'll keep the posts coming as I am confined to my home now a lot due to the wonderful woes of the 3rd trimester.

Ciao!
