Halloween 2008 is coming soon!!

It's that time again!!!
Halloweeen TIME!! Ooglie Booglie Time!!

I love the holidays and Halloween is always special because its the first of a long streak of holidays to come. I was looking forward to today because I had asked Nini to take me to our lovely storage unit to get our holiday supplies. this was not an easy trip... For starters, we've been experiencing a heat wave (again!) in Northern california so it was hot. Plus I'm about 10 degrees hotter carrying the baby so that made it feel like 100 degrees. We dropped off all of our summer supplies, including camping gear, some beach stuff etc. It was a little sad to say goodbye to the summer but its always exciting to take out all of our Halloween, Thanksgiving and X-mas decorations. We loaded the car with the boxes of our holiday goodies after dropping off all of the summer stuff. It was so hot that I began to picture the cool weather that comes with the holidays and I got super excited. I cannot wait for our first major rain of the season. I love rain...

I just finished putting up our Halloween decorations and I must say, it feels great to have everything all festive!! I have a few more things to buy but here's my secret: at the end of each Halloween, I go online and into stores and purchase a bunch of stuff after Halloween is over, that's because everything goes on sale...sometimes for a discount of 50-75% off. The trick is not to open the stuff and wait for the next year. So this year I got to open a couple of new items and it was cool because it felt like I just bought it! Ta Daa :) I know its a little corky but its fun, trust me. I'm a little dissapointed because I didn't do as much post Halloween shopping as I should have last year so I may need to get a few more things. This is a very special Halloween since I'll have my baby boy to celebrate it with. I just hope he arrives sometime before October 31st!! I'll also be home a lot and will also be having a lot of friends and family over so more reason to go on a decoration crazy-streak.

I also usually host a annual pumpkin carving event at my house. I am not sure what the deal is for this year since I'm due dead smack down in the middle of October. I figure I will plan it once the baby arrives... but a lot of people have been telling me that I probably won't have the energy. We'll see about that!

If you are ready to start carving, check out this website that offers a bunch of free (printable) carving designs for your pumpkin: http://www.dltk-holidays.com/halloween/mpatterns.htm. My dad and his gf just got us a small little pumpkin for the house so I'm going to try and paint it. I've never painted a pumpkin before but if you check out these you can see how cool they turn out:

So if you're like me and love the holidays, get out your decorations and get a head start on the holiday love. Happy Halloween Time!
