Is it safe to say we're in a recession?
I for one am very happy with the turnout of yesterday's BAILOUT DENIAL!! The people have spoken and I love it. This is the first time in ages where I feel that the government actually took into consideration the public opinion, whether its because elections are right around the corner or not, I'm just very happy that the timing worked out the way it did.
Why am I against the proposed bailout? Well its simple...
Why should we pay over $700 billion of our money to save corporations and banks that got themselves here in the first place?? What happened to all of the money that banks collect from average every day citizens who are now left in horrible foreclosure situations, with their credit ruined and no where to turn because housing rentals and gas prices have sky rocketed? What happen to all of those service charges banks charge people for stupid shit like SPEAKING TO A PHONE REPRESENTATIVE, OVERDRAFT CHARGES, ATM CHARGES etc? What happened to all that extra cash they earned on the side? Maybe the banks need to learn a thing or two about managing money!! So you know what, save the people not the corporations.... or atleast find a solution that helps both sides and not just offers one side a parachute while the other side (the people) go on a free fall.
I was reading the Mercury this morning and came across this:
The best part about the past week's debates in congress is that people are actually USING THEIR MINDS and having to come up with sound solutions, not just saying "YEAH LET'S GO TO WAR WITH NO EVIDENCE" like we did before. I am also really confused as to who I want to vote for. I was not impressed with Obama nor McCain and feel that my options are limited. I wish the debates would also consider the other smaller parties, like Nader, so we can have a very fruitful discussion on some of the hottest topics and not have Obama and McCain be so Politically Correct with everything that comes out of their mouths. Ok. Enough politics. This stuff has been running everyone's lives the past few weeks, months... and its time to take a break. I'm a huge fan of news, especially nightly news and lately, its been super depressing. Maybe its because I have a child on board and I'm not only concerned for my generation but sincerely concerned for our future.

I was reading the Mercury this morning and came across this:
Many of us have followed the rules. We pay the rent on time or make our mortgage payments. We try not to borrow more than we can pay back. Some of us sock away a little for our kids' college, or our retirement or a rainy day. We haven't cleaned up by investing in exotic financial instruments or by flipping real estate. We just work hard and hope for the best. And now? Now our government wants us to put up the money to clean up somebody else's mess. San Jose Rep. Zoe Lofgren said it best: These bozos, they risked other people's money and brought our economy to a very serious situation."
