earthquake..and I'm not talking soccer right now

Image
This morning was a bit crazy. We had a trembler in San Jose of which was measured to be around 4.3. It felt a little bigger than that because downtown san jose was only about 16 miles away from the epicenter. Crazy!! Most people who know me know that I'm always preparing for the BIG ONE. However, I realized that its a bit hard to do that when you have a baby. Why? Well most of the time, I would usaully run like a cheetah and try to get myself out of the house and outdoors. although this is not typically recommended, I did that most of the time. After we had a baby, neil and I had to discuss our earthquake evacuation plans and we decided we'd both get under a doorway. he totally slashed my 'Run As Fast as you Can' idea.  Ok that all sounded good during our planning but when we were faced with an earthquake, we didn't know what to do! Why? Well earthquakes last about 15 seconds. In that time, you have to run and find a safe place. But we had to run, get LJ, get the do...

Just saw a band play a few songs at work... They are called 16 Frames and have had songs featured on the show PRIVATE PRACTICE. I liked their style and think their songs are pretty darn cool. I have a feeling we'll be hearing more about these guys. If you want, you can check them out by visiting:  http://www.rhapsody.com/16-frames

Soccer Recap - My first 3 games

So I have started to play soccer again. This after a 5+ year hiatus. I had played here and there but nothing quite like this. After having a baby, I dunno what happened, I decided to get back on the field. Last Sunday was my 3rd game. Here's a recap Game 1: Sunday (the day following SPRING FORWARD time change) 9am (which was really 8am in my eyes). Played Soccer. In the middle of the game, I asked the ref "How much longer??" and he said "We've only been playing for 15 minutes!!" WHAT!! 15 minutes? It felt like seriously an eternity. I was DYING! D-D-Dying. I managed to somehow pull through and finished the game. That next week, I walked like I had a huge log coming out of my booty. I was so sore. It was bad but I didn't know that it could get worst! Game 2: Sunday MARCH 15th 9am. This time, Neil and LJ joined Scott and Ella on the sidelines to cheer on Alana, Me and Naazi who was a no show. We started to jog around and warm-up and I was really excited to...

Teeth, Toes, Tummy

Image
There have been lots of exciting new developments with our boo LJ. I told you all that he had teeth coming in, well now, they are totally here!! they are adorable little teeth that bite me when I'm feeding him. Oh yeah, that part sucks but its all part of being a mom! LJ also started eating organic baby rice cereal.. He had maybe a teaspoon full a couple of times a week and now we've added sweet potato to the mix. He absolutely LOVES the sweet potato meal... we have to literally stop feeding it to him or he can eat it for days. We are trying to SLOWLY give him food because his tummy and poop schedule goes all wacky when he eats too much. Ni and I have so much fun with our little dude. So much that we can't be away from him too long otherwise we start getting separation anxiety. Is that normal? Who cares. It is for us. well here's a few pics of some of LJ's new tricks and developements. Happy St Patty's Day and Charshanbehsoori!!! Little Dude's Teeth: Somebod...

Helpful Hints For Sleep Deprived New Mamas

Image
From Lilsugar.com I was shocked to read this article that was posted today because IT IS SOOOO ME RIGHT NOW. Read on for tips on how to make do while being sleep deprived: Once you're a parent, you never get the same quality of sleep again. Well, maybe when the kids move out. Whether you are up feeding an infant or keeping your ears open for signs of a restless tot, you've kissed your hours of deep shut eye good bye. But, there are a few ways mamas with brand new babes can help themselves adjust and deal with sleep deprivation. Plan Ahead While pregnant, take care of all your household tasks from cleaning the linen closet to organizing the nursery and freezing some homemade meals so you can focus on the baby once you bring him home. [My comments] Um... yeah right. My nesting instints made the house spotless. But did that matter? No way. The house goes to shiznit when you have a baby and I'm slowly learning that it might be unavoidable! S end Baby to the Nursery Rest up befo...

Day light savings sucks

Image
WHY DO WE HAVE DAYLIGHT SAVINGS?? Now my morning drive which starts at 6am in PITCH black, not fun! yes the longer days and more light in the evening is nice but why can't we just stay in one normal time schedule? Why mess with nature? I never had my life hit so hard after losing an hour. An hour seems so minuscule but in the grand scheme of things, its a lot to lose. I am still trying to recover from the 1 hour that just vanished from my busy craZy life. Not only am I sleep deprived because my little munchkin keeps me up at night but I'm also sore from my first soccer game in 2 years and the overall stresses of being a full time working mother. I am exhausted and need a vacation more than ever!!!!!!!!!!! I usually have a good grip of all of the things that surround me and I feel that in the last week I have lost control of my world. I feel tired, achy, confused, anxious and did i say tired? I look forward to getting a good hefty vacation in my life sometime in the next few...

A little morning treat...

AssTeroid!

Wow we are lucky! Screw all of the things going on with the economy, we're glad to be alive!! Why? Well let's just say that a surprise asteroid almost hit our planet!! The rock, estimated to be no more than 200 feet wide, zoomed past our planet at an altitude of 40,000 miles at 1:44 p.m. universal time (on March 2nd). That is NOT FAR AT ALL!!! The asstard (my name for an asteroid) was dubbed as the "2009 DD45". So how bad would it have been? Had 2009 DD45 hit the Earth, it would have exploded on or near the surface with the force of a large nuclear blast!!! And to top it off, we would only have gotten a 3 day notice. Hold on to your hats people! I think hearing news like this makes me realize that while our economic climate is dreary and doesn't look to have a ending anytime soon, we should all be happy that we didn't get BLASTED by this asteroid! C'mon on people, let's appreciate the fact that our earth is still here. There may be more... The earth...
