earthquake..and I'm not talking soccer right now

This morning was a bit crazy. We had a trembler in San Jose of which was measured to be around 4.3. It felt a little bigger than that because downtown san jose was only about 16 miles away from the epicenter. Crazy!! Most people who know me know that I'm always preparing for the BIG ONE. However, I realized that its a bit hard to do that when you have a baby. Why? Well most of the time, I would usaully run like a cheetah and try to get myself out of the house and outdoors. although this is not typically recommended, I did that most of the time. After we had a baby, neil and I had to discuss our earthquake evacuation plans and we decided we'd both get under a doorway. he totally slashed my 'Run As Fast as you Can' idea.

Ok that all sounded good during our planning but when we were faced with an earthquake, we didn't know what to do! Why? Well earthquakes last about 15 seconds. In that time, you have to run and find a safe place. But we had to run, get LJ, get the dogs, then get in a safe place. ALL WITHIN THE TIME IT SHOOK! How is that possible???

I mean, I would rather die than let my child be alone and have to fend for himself during a quake. Once today's quake was over, I found myself shaking and had to sit. I dunno know why I work myself up so much, maybe its the 5 levels of homes that sit on top of ours...

I hope everyone is OK from the quake. I heard that some high rises downtown had to be evacuated following the shaker. Maybe the folks got to take the day off (haha.. yeah right). Well have a wonderful one and remember life is short... Live Hard!!
