The Neti Pot
I had my first experience with the NETI POT this weekend. My mom and sister had been using this device for years... but I just couldn't fathom having water go into one nostril and come out the other. I had too many questions.. Where does the water go? Is it in my brain? Does it feel funny? Does it burn? Can some of the water leak during its trip down the 2nd nostril and get left behind in your head?
I mean, c'mon, I had some valid concerns. However, all those questions were shoved away given the current state of pain I'm in. I'm stuck with a sinus infection that's been lurking around in my head for 5 weeks and given that I'm pregnant, I can't take anything but tylenol to fight it. When I told my mom that I was interested in using it, she was THRILLED. So thrilled that she went to the store Sunday morning and purchased me my own little SNOT POT. It was cool of her to do it and Neil, LJ and I sped on over so I can try to get some relief.
The experience was interesting and not at all as frightening as I thought it would be. It felt so great having something go inside my sinuses that I wish I could reach myself. The relief wasn't instant but the next day, I felt so much better. I'm not sure if it was the Snot Pot, or the massage I got later that day or the heating pad I used at night but I woke up Monday morning feeling a lot less pressure in my head.
I'm continuing to use the SNOT POT on a nightly basis and hope that it helps deplete the pain completely. Until then I'm just trying not to bend down and dip my head too low because that's the time it hurts the most.
Don't be a tool like I was. Try the Neti Pot It's pretty amazing. Thanks Mom, Jana, Jouvan, Alana and Becky for being such big advocates.
