Welcome Kianoosh Mansour Parry - July 6, 2010

On July 6 2010 the Parry family welcomed their newest addition, Kianoosh, to their family!!

Kianoosh was born via a planned C-section at Good Samaritan Hospital on July 6,2010.

The Birth Story
This was a totally different birth experience than when I had Leonidus. Since my first son Leonidus was born via c-section, Neil and I opted to have another c-section to avoid any further complications. We decided this about the 20th week of my pregnancy.

I was given an option to choose what day I wanted to have my scheduled c-section. I went back and forth, pondering which day would be best. My mom and aunt, firm believers in the stars, told me to have my baby on the 4th of July however what doctor and hospital staff would want to do a c-section on a holiday. Since that day was out, the stars looked best on July 6 and Wa- La, we had the baby on that day and a minute before the desired time of 10am.

With a planned c-section, everything is smooth beforehand. The week before my due date, I got my nails done, dyed my hair, went shopping for cute hospital attire, took LJ on a last only-child trip to the zoo and soooo much more. I arrived at the hospital early Tuesday morning with hair and makeup done and ready to go.

On the outside, all 188 pounds of me felt and looked as good as can be. However, on the inside, i was a wreck!!! First off, I hate surgery. I haven't had many operations and going into a c-section not drugged up on meds like I was during my birth with Leonidus was horrible.

As soon as we arrived and i put on my hospital gown, I got the surgery shivers. These shivers are no joke, they are more like tremors. I started shaking, looking sooo dumb. Ugh...

Neil was with me most of the time and my dad arrived right before they were going to take me back to the OR. I didn't like walking into the surgery room. It was cold, it was white and filled with WAYY too many surgical tools.

I sat on the OR bed and awaited my spinal. Spinals SUCK. They work on impact but you can still kinda feel your stomach. It feels numb but you can't feel pain. It's strange. My lower half went immediately NUMB as soon as they shot me with the needle. After they maneuvered me onto the bed, I started freaking out. I kept asking the anesthesiologist, "I can still feel. Are you sure I am numb? I don't want to feel the knife" and he looked at me like I was crazy. The dude I had as my anesthesiologist was not comforting at all. I asked the same question over and over until they cut me. I didn't feel a thing and then I started getting nervous about the baby. What is he going to look like? What if he comes out not breathing.. What if.. What if.. All negative. I tried to enjoy the moment but I was a freaking wreck. Neil, videotaping most of this experience, was nervous too so he couldn't console me. Within the matter of MINUTES Kianoosh was out and crying! It was SOOO fast. They pulled him out and said he's perfect and I cried, breathed a sigh of relief and finally rested.

In our birth plan, Neil was to go with the baby while I got sewed back up. The after c-section part takes FOREVER (well 45 minutes) and time seems longer because all you want to do is go be with your baby. I got all nipped and tucked away at all the right places and was shortly rolled over to the recovery room where Neil and my new beautiful baby boy waited. He was soooooo adorable! I couldn't believe how much he looked like Leonidus. At that very moment, having gone through all the awful aches and pains of pregnancy seemed so so so worth it. Kianoosh latched on my boob IMMEDIATELY and breastfeeding started within 5 minutes of holding him. Nice job Kian!!

My family started coming into the recovery room one by one to meet our newest addition. It was around 11am by this time and Neil, my aunt Naazi and I asked the nurse if we could go back to the room to watch the beginning of one of the world cup semifinal games. YES. We wanted to watch soccer. After all, Kian was in my belly during all the games, he wanted to watch the semifinals too!! :)~

That's my birth story. Nothing crazy. All went well and besides my mind that went bizurk, everything went great. Thank you to all my dear family, friends, Dr Noh and to the AMAZING and VERY VERY KING Good Samaritan hospital doctors and nurses. You are all so amazing for having taken care of me and my son.

I am now a proud mother of 2 boys and the loving wife of a truly amazing husband. Thank you life. You rock!
