Out and About
As we enter our 3rd week of life and living in Sacramento, here's a clip of the boys and I driving around town running errands and getting ourselves familiar with our new surroundings... Its about 5pm and we had just gotten a call from Neil (aka Daddy) and he was HOME! The boys, hungry and missing daddy, were both ready to get back home.
Its been a fast paced few weeks here. I haven't had much time to sit and dwell on the fact that I'm so far from everyone I know. Mostly because life with 2 boys is non-stop. Either you get on the train or you get run over :) we've been on a bullet train and its going high speed full throttle...
why am I using so many train analogies??!! Well it could be that I live, eat and breath trains with LJ and his passion for trains. On Sunday we actually entered into another level of train heaven and visited the TRAIN MUSEUM. This is not a hokey pokey train museum, its the REAL DEAL. No people, I'm serious. They've got this place created for people of all ages...I was even finding myself wanting to learn more. Trains are pretty darn fascinating!
The first level consists of real life sized (out of commission) trains who have been restored to perfection. I have no idea how they got these gigantic pieces of machinery inside the building buts its breathtaking when you see yourself standing next to a wheel that's bigger than you! The 1st floor can take anywhere from 1 hour - 4+ hours depending on how much time you take reading and learning about each of them.
The 2nd floor...oh the 2nd floor. its basically HEAVEN for kids who love trains. I mean, Leonidus has not stopped talking about the train museum. There is one section upstairs that has about 10 kids train tables. Free Play. Oh yeah... its sick. Then there is this GIGANTIC model toy train that's shielded off with glass but kids can press buttons to make the train function, lights go on/off etc. This was by far my most favorite part of the museum.
If you are ever in the sacramento area and you have a boy (or girl) who loves trains, this is a MUST-SEE spot. In fact, there is even an operational train that runs 6 miles roundtrip starting in April... You know we'll be there a lot :)
OK. here's the mother of a train lover signing off and hitting the sack. CHOO CHOO!!
