The early risers
Back in the good ole days, our families schedule allowed us a nice wake up call... usually around 7-8:30am. But lately, with the many changes upon us with Neil in the heart of football, myself and my new job/schedule and LJ starting preschool come fall, our sleep has been significantly impacted
For the past 2 weeks, we have been waking up around 6am...average I'd say 6:30am. With this new time, our days seem like FOREVER. Honestly its amazing how much more you can get done when you wake up that early! I am liking it but I am getting SO sleepy by the time 10pm rolls around.
I could barely keep my eyes open during big brother lastnight!! haha... my favorite show!
Today LJ woke up at 4:30am and he did not want to go back to bed. He wanted noodles and meatballs by 9am (theoretically this would be his lunch) and was in bed by 11:30am for his nap (normally between 12:30-1pm). Kian was very similar but since he's 1, he slept in until 7am which was nice. On average my kids sleep about 11-12 hours at night and take a 1 hour 45 minute nap daily. The naps sometimes go longer but that's on a GOOD day. In total, I would say they sleep 14 hours in a day. MUST BE NICE! All the evidence supports sleep attributes to better health, good growth and better appetite/mood. I'm all for it. I wish I was getting the same type of sleep!
In closing, I wonder if this is just the hours that we have to grow accustom to now that we have two kids... especially during the time when they are both in school. My aunt (who's kids are now 7 and 11) is enjoying the good life, especially on weekends. Her kids are independent, can make their own breakfasts but mostly, they all sleep in until 9/10am on a free (nonschool) day. I remember the days when her kids were young and I had no kids. She'd call me at 8am (she had probably been up for 2 hours by that time) and I was pissed because I was still getting my zzz's. oh the ole days. :)
