Airshow Saturday
Having your kids on a schedule means that you get screwed on weekends. My boys typically nap between the hours of 12-2pm. Sometimes more or less... A few Saturday's ago I invited my dad often referred to in my posts as Pappajoon and his gf Nicole to join us for a day of soccer and an airshow.
On Saturday mornings, Leonidus has soccer in a cute gym in Davis. Coach Steve is INCREDIBLE with kids. He moved LJ up into the 3.5-4.5 year old class because of his size (and he was a tidbit aggressive for his age group). Leave it to my son... sigh :)
Pappajoon met us at soccer and LJ was PUMPED to see he had an entire fan section watching from the glass viewing room above. He would run and look up.. not paying attention to what he was doing but just continuously checking to make sure WE were all WATCHING him! bahahaa...
After soccer (which ended around 10:30am) the sacramento area heat was already heading towards the 90's. I dread the heat here. I actually hate it. Oh well.. We got into our cars and headed over to the air-show which both boys were super stoked about. My boys are obsessed with Trains, Cars, Airplanes and Trucks so you can imagine this was a big event for them.
We arrived, parked and it was HOT. It was also very close to nap time. As I mom, that was all I was thinking about. PLEASE have them make it (without a tantrum) for the next couple of hours. and you know what? WE DID! Leonidus was running from left to right, not able to see everything fast enough. Kian had his finger pointing upwards for most of the day ooooing and ahhhing at all the planes. It was so fun to see them so excited :-)
Highlights of the day:
-seeing a live WW2 pearl harbor re-enactment with bombs, explosions and real planes
-getting to climb into some real planes, seeing their cargo space
-seeing a stunt helicopter
-taking pics with pilots
We left a couple of hours later not because we weren't having fun but because the heat got considerably dangerous. I mean, we honestly could have spent another 2 hours there because the boys were completely mesmerized by all the airplanes around them and flying all over the place. It was by far the best idea I could have had to take them there. Below is a photo journal of our day... It was such a lovely time and I hope we get to do it again soon (but maybe in the Bay Area so its a bit cooler).
