Obama 2008 - CHANGE!

Image
Were you one of over 38 million Americans that watched lastnights acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention?? I was... I watched Obama's speech last night and I have to admit, I got Goosebumps a few times because I felt the energy and power in his words. Not only is he an amazing public speaker but his views on many topics were very balanced and similar to those that I believe. This is the first candidate that has been so closely aligned with my values and principles. I hope that everyone watches the Obama speech, more than once, and really hones in on his views on real world issues that we face on a daily basis. I wasn’t so much inspired by Obama’s speech, I felt more relieved that our lives can be normal again after having spent over 8 months in such a shitty economy. As a middle class member of society, I absolutely connected with Obama’s speech and feel that his goals are to help middle/low class rather than focus on the rich who don’t need as much relief. I ...

Finally its Friday!!

I love Fridays. God they are nice. This was an incredibly long week for me. I'm in my 8th month of pregnancy bliss(not) and things have not been easy. I have restless legs, can't get comfortable for the life of me, feel like a bafoon, have backaches like no other and can't take a nice deep breath because my lungs are so jammed up into my chest. Not to mention the lovely spells of acid that comes up your through your throat and damn that heartburn. Oh the voes of pregnancy. Thank god I have a blog to vent too! I went to tahoe recently with friends to try and keep my mind busy and off of the pregnancy. It was a pleasant trip but it was not easy because alll of my friends were partaking in alcohol consumption while I sipped on water and juice. After 8 months of sobriety, I miss the occasionally glass of wine or bottle of ice cold beer, especially that hefeweizen beer with a nice crisp lemon. YUM. I had a doctor visit today and I asked him to please check the size of baby p...

Olympic Madness

We are in the thick of the Olympics and 2008 has not disappointed me. Like the past few nights have been awesome with Jamaica men dominating the 100 meter and the women gymnasts proving themselves in the individual rounds. The only thing that has been hard is staying up. The latest I can pry my eyes open till is 11pm. I used to be a night owl but pregnancy has taken away that trait completely. I am now an early riser who starts feeling the sandman drizzle the sand at 10pm. Sooooo wierd. I guess I should enjoy this period while I can because I hear parenthood comes hand-in-hand with sleep deprivation. Anyways, the olympics have been fun and also have been a great distraction to me as I am home much more now since carrying this massive front load. Some of the sports have been a total bore like Handball which is super lame... even power walking had me snoozing. Other events like swimming, diving, boxing, soccer etc are more bearable because it has some degree of difficulty. Have ...

Rocco's 7th Birthday

Image
August 10, 2001 was the day the world was blessed with Rocco. This dog has been through thick and thin with me and I love him as if he were my own child. He truly means the world with me. I got him when I was in college. Those were my crazy days of partying and he was such a trooper through loud ass parties, long nights, morning hangovers (he was a great cuddler) and so on. Because he is the best dog ever, Nini and I had a little bday celebration on Monday night to let him know how special he is to us. Nini was in charge of gifts and picked up some Carl's Junior Hamburger and came home with a brand new toy for him. Rocco was soooo happy when he saw the burger. He tried to rip right through the paper. I had to make sure to remove the onions from it because as you all know, onions and garlic are horrible for dogs. The pics below are from Rocco's bday party. Remember, dogs love to celebrate birthdays just as much as humans so take time each year to give your pooch some X-...

31 weeks - Bambino Parry is growing rapidly

Image
It has been a while since I posted a belly shot. Here is one from this week, which is a shot of me at 31 weeks. Looking at this angle, my belly is LARGE AS ****. Its all worth it but I now know why I am always bumping it into things. I am learning its distance but everytime I figure it out, my belly grows, throwing off all of my measurements. The other day I tried to fit between 2 parked cars in a parking lot. Something that is normally VERY easy to do. Not for me now... My belly hit the side mirror of the car and it kinda hurt! ouchies. The PJ's I'm wearing below are obviously not made for maternity wear however the material is super comfortable and I love wearing it. Neil tells me I got a homer simpson going (space between top and pants) whenever my shirts ride but no harm in showing a little bare belly bump is there? This week Bambino Parry measures about 16 inches long. He weighs a little over 3 pounds and is heading into a growth spurt. (As if I'm not big enou...

8-8-8

Image
How cool is today!! 8 - 8 - 8!! This day won't come again for a long time... and no wonder its special. Its the start of the olympics (8-8-08 at exactly 8:08 a.m), my last day of being 29 and I get to see junior today at my doctor appointment! can't beat that. According to chinese folks, today, 8/8/8 is the most auspicious days ever for the Chinese culture. Tons of people are getting married today and even inducing their labor (don't worry i won't) to have their baby born on this particular day. I love the #8. My favorite number is actually 18 which contains 8 but do you really know why 8 is so popular? Well here I did some research and got some more insight on this fabulous digit: In Cantonese [the language of Southern China and Hong Kong], the word for 'fah' means 'eight,' but also sounds like the word for 'make a lot of fortune'. Thus in a homonym-crazy society like China's: Eight equals lucky The number eight is considered lucky by numer...

As 30 nears...

I'm about to turn 30 in just a few and I am not sure if its that reality hasn't set in but I am not trippin' at all. I always dreaded this moment because unlike ages 16, 18, 21... there is nothing special about being 30 except for the fact that you can't say "I'm in my 20's". I also always envisioned spending my 30th birthday party in Vegas getting absolutely annihilated and having fun with my fam/friends. That is so not going to happen while I just hit my 30th week of pregnancy. It's actually funny. I'll be 30 weeks pregnant when i turn 30. that's kinda funni. Many people have told me a lot of fantastic things about the 30's. Here are a few things I've heard: (1) You are very self aware and confident so you can enjoy life a lot more (2) There is a sense of peace in your life (3) You know what you want and are more driven to achieve it (maybe that's because you realize that you're getting OLD!) (4) Typically you'll ...

olympic team??

Neil and I are home tonight and we are trying desperately to find out which USA Olympic team (women) is BBQing and playing bocce ball right outside our condo's balcony in the courtyard. We thought it was the gymnastics team at first but after some googling, it looks like they already headed to beijing. Which team could it be?? if anyone knows, holla. They got these sweet light blue USA jackets on and they all look very fit and athletic. Weird. UPDATE (8/2): It was the women's olympic field hockey team.

Happy Burfday Jouvan!!!

The LEO birthdays continue in my family and today is JOJO, my sis's BIG day.... She may be an old fart but the only thing that sux is that she'll always be younger than me. Have a great day JoJo and give mom a call and tell her you appreciate the long hours of labor she endured to have your ass.
