Life is sweet

It's friday and I couldn't be any happier. My week has been insanely busy but I honestly have loved every minute of it. Nima, Alaleh, Arash, Neil and I all had dinner wed. night at Rosie's. First of all I had the greatest evening. These are friends of mine that I'd die... I've known them all forever and I seriously enjoyed every minute of the time I spent with everyone. The food at Rosie's was just as good as the company. Alaleh's family has picked a great chef to represent and I'd give that place an A+ anyday!!! I grew up babysitting Nima and hanging out with him since he was 5 and Alaleh and I have grown up together since I can't remember. We always played soccer and got into TONS of trouble so Neil heard some interesting stories about me that I kinda sorta forgot to tell him about. ha haaaaaaaaaaa... Then on Thursday morning I woke up and headed over to our last and final day at the hotel in Sunnyvale. The last day of TSP launch is SWEET! I know t...

this is a long week

as i said in yesterday's post this has been a long week. But I have 3 great nights ahead of me. Before I get into that I want to state how BAD Tuesday nights American Idol singers performed. Besides Paris, Mandesa and Chris, I thought everyone sang as if they were on stage at some run down bars' kareoki night. If the performances are this boring, I might have to stop watching. IT WAS THAT BAD! Neil and I headed over to the bookstore lastnight for my 3rd visit to get books on starting a Small Business. While I can't reveal the business details, its going to be fantastic. The more I read, the more I realize that I've got a HUGE potential career ahead of me. I have always seen myself owning a business and at 27, my dream is almost a reality. Anyways, tonight I am headed over to Rosie's to have dinner with Alaleh, Nima, Neil and Alaleh's brother Arash. It's a long overdue reunion amongst 4 very very close childhood friends. Nima is in town this week for UCLA...

I'm a slacker

No posts! Yup. Don't blame me. This week is not my normal type of work week. My Online Banking feature team is meeting at a hotel in Sunnyvale everyday this week to discuss our launch and all the things that go with it. I'm in a hotel all day this week and its been interesting. My brain hurts at the end of the day because we toss around so much information. I had a great weekend. My grandmother left for Iran on Saturday so I spent the night with my family to wish her off. Thereafter, neil and I headed to the mall where I bought my first ever TUMI briefcase/laptop bag. It's sooo nice. I love it and I can't imagine life without it now. I got my laptop and business needs all in one lovely case. Good Ole Sunday was spent golfing and chilling with my man. I didn't do too much else because I'm starting a new business. I can't tell anyone besides immediate friends and family what it is but expect something big very SOON. My idea is going to take off like nothing e...

Original Gangsta Name

Ok. I need to post something more upbeat, especially after the post I had last... it was sad but necessary to post because I went through so many emotions reading it. Stop. Next post. I'm sure everyone loves their birth names but have you ever wanted to know what your name would be if you were a Gangsta? Well I know you do and so do I. Recently, I came across a site called "The Original Gangsta Name Generator". I thought it was so cute and for some reason I was really curious as to what my OG name would be... Let's give it a try. Name: Rougeyar Original Gangsta Name: Mercedes-Rollin Guatemalan ah what the hell.. I just want to play around with a few more guys. Name: neil Original Gangsta Name: Old Dirty Baller Name: Jouvan Original Gangsta Name: Head Bitch (I swear jo!! I'm not calling you that it just really came up as that!!) For the full story and pictures, click here! Married at the age of four, an Afghan girl was subjected to years of beatings and torture, finally escaping to discover that within all the world's cruelty, there is also some kindness. Eleven-year old Gulsoma lay in a heap on the ground in front of her father-in-law. He told her that if she didn't find a missing watch by the next morning he would kill her. He almost had already. Enraged about the missing watch, Gulsoma's father-in-law had beaten her repeatedly with a stick. She was bleeding from wounds all over her body and her right arm and right foot had been broken. She knew at that moment that if she didn't get away, he would make good on his promise to kill her. * * * When I meet her at the Ministry of Women's Affairs I'm surprised that the little girl, now 12, is the same one that had endured such horrible suffering. She is wearing a red baseball cap and an orange scarf. She has beautiful brown eye...

UCLA doesn't deserve a win. I hate them!!!

Image
Ok. Seriously. I hate UCLA. Those little pussies don't even deserve to win anything. Last nights mediocre victory over Gonzaga was nothing but sheer luck. Gonzaga dominated those Westwood punk bitches in every aspect of the game. Well, I guess shit heads like that do come out on top every once in a while. UCLA: University of Crooks Loving An undeserving WIN! UCLA stuns Gonzaga Outclassed for 37 minutes, Bruins score final 11 points to advance By STEVE DILBECK LOS ANGELES DAILY NEWS OAKLAND, Calif. -- And for their next trick, Ben Howland will fly, Aaron Afflalo will saw Adam Morrison in two and Jordan Farmar will pull a rabbit and an Elite Eight invite out of his trunks. Understand this, it was completely ridiculous. So jaw-dropping it was just stupid. The kind of thing that Hollywood would be embarrassed to try and pull off. But the UCLA Bruins did. Pulled off a comeback that defied belief, not to mention all basketball logic. This just doesn't happen. It just isn't a...

Nick Lachey asks "What's left for me?"

Lachey, 32, the ex husband of Simpson, 5 has reportedly released a new song titled "whats left for me?" in which he sings his heart out about the recent breakup with his not so bright ex wife. "The video is obviously about him and Jessica," a close source tells Us Magazine. In the video, with MTV VJ Vanessa Minnillo standing in for Simpson, Lachey sings in a house quite similar to the Calabasas, California, home they shared during the three seasons of Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica. Lachey watches as the objects of their life together gradually disappear around him. In the end, even Minnillo has vanished into the shadows. "The song is all about changes," Minnillo, 25, host of Total Request Live, tells Us. "Nick is so strong. He's really putting himself out there as a musician." I found the lyrics to his new song online and here they are for all you lyric enthusiasts: Whats Left for Me Watch my life, Pass me by, In the rearview mirror Pic...

Goodbye chicken little

Image
American Idol... Tonight was a great night. My least favorite as well as the most annoying contestant was voted off of American Idol. America decided to think realistic for a change. Kevin aka Chicken little was terrible. His voice sounded muffled as if he sung with a lisp. It was gross. I had to cover my ears everytime he went to hit a high note. On that note I'll stop bashing the little guy but seriously, this isn't "America's cutest little nerd" ... this is "American Idol" keyword IDOL! If that dude was my idol then you could say I have issues. (Little Kevin looks like he's gone Big-Time) I'm just sorry to have thousands of little girls out there crying themselves to sleep tonight. I know Kevin had a huge following and for those of you people who enjoyed Kevin, I'm sorry. =( Let's think on the bright side, at least he learned a lot being on this show. He looked 10 times better lastnight then he did during the Idol try-outs. He'...

Soccer days are here again...

Indoor soccer season is starting soon and it happens to begin early April. I'm so excited to start playing but I'm nervous too because I'm on NOT one but TWO soccer teams. The first team I'm playing for is ALL GIRLS and we're called Tangueray. I'm more of a vodka lover but it'll have to do. I played with most of the girls during my west valley soccer hay days. I'm just ecstatic about rekindling our soccer past with them. It'll be a blast. Gooo Tangueray. Kick off for this team is April 2nd. Next I'm on a team for Rosie's Pub in Santana Row. Alaleh my long time friend owns this spot along with her parents. This will be a hard-core CO-ED team and our name is the FIGHTING IRISH. We're bad ass and with every goal comes a free pint of beer. You can't beat that. Anyways, I'm headed straight to the gym tonight for 1 hour of pure cardio. That's what I'll be doing for the next 2 weeks. Cardio.. and then if that's not enough.. m...

Persian New Year March 20th, 2006

Image
The first day of spring (March 20th) also happens to be Persian New Year. This year we celebrated the arrival of Noorooz at 10:26am. As soon as the clock struck, I kissed and hugged everyone in my wonderful family. I love Persian New Years because its a great way to spend time with you family, friends and you also get lots and lots of money as gifts from the elderly and not to mention the splendid grub. There are more pictures but my camera decided to fail and die on me in the midst of preparing lunch. Too bad ... the pics of the food is unbelievable. My mom cooked 4 dishes, plus my favorite soup. The soup was 'Soup eh Jo' which consists of barley, chicken in a delicious white sauce. The main dishes were salmon, rice with sabzi (aka herbs), plain rice, khoreshteh gheimeh (best stew ever!), salad olivea and chicken. It was like thanksgiving all over... Now, here's a photo diary from Monday's festivities... I'll post more later. I have lots and lots to do at the wond...

The New Petsmart in Downtown

Image
I just made my 2nd visit to the all new shopping center in downtown san jose. I have to say its great being able to go to Target without having to drive to BFE to get things. I heard that the new Petsmart recently opened so I decided to take Rocco on a stroll over to the store. We went there with only dog food and potty pads (For Peezy) in mind but left with a cart full! Peezy had to stay home because he hasn't had all his shots yet. His last shot is due this week and afterwards he's going all around the world with me, Rocco and Neil. The new petsmart is great. The store is not only very spacious and dog friendly but they offer pet grooming, they have a gorgeous dog hotel which I KNOW my dogs will be staying at from here on out and much more. I am so impressed with the setup and everything. I ended up buying some toys and a new bed for my babies. The new bed is made of suede and soft plush fabric for the inside. I would even sleep in it!! The dogs are loving it and are both cud...

Cheating In America

Image
Sometimes it's hard to face the facts but cheating is a commonly practiced ritual that oftens destroys trust in relationships. Being 27, I've seen relationship after relationship fail due to the simple fact that somebody was "cheating". There are millions of reasons why people cheat but the statistics around cheating can be frightening. Here are some of the stats I pulled from various online sources. Just some #'s for you to think about... From PlayBoy Magazine: -2 out of 3 women and 3 out of 4 men admit they have sexual thoughts about co-workers. -86% of men and 81% of women admit they routinely flirt with the opposite sex. -75% of men and 65% of women admit to having sex with people they work with. -The fact is that human beings are NOT monogamous by nature. That means they cheat. Experts say that a gut instinct is the most powerful indicator of a cheating lover. Adultery statistics state that 85% of woman who feel their lover is cheating are correct. 50% of me...

Work is Crazy

It's Wednesday .. right? It feels more like Friday. I have had such an overwhelmingly busy week that I feel like tomorrow needs to be Saturday! I'm sooo drained. First off, I had a carpet cleaning service come to my house. Having 2 dogs, you need it. So the guy is into his first 30 minutes of foam-mayhem when snap, the power goes out. I run up to the box with all the switches and nothing is offset. So what the hell what going on? I got outside and notice all the hallway lights are out. Turns out PG&E needed to turn off the power for an hour. Great. It happened to be the hour the dude was cleaning my carpet and the problem was that I had to be at a meeting at work in less than 2 hours!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. That was the start of my day... and that's just a small tidbit into my week. I am also part of the Online Banking feature for QuickBooks. I can't disclose anything else but what we're doing is huge and this stinks because we're having some resoursing issues w...

To all Oakdale Rougetime readers....

Neil... aka my boyfriend... has asked me to warn all Oakdale dwellers that Oakdale can turn you into a bonehead. Either move (ASAP) or accept the facts. That little dot.. which coicidentally looks like a zit.. is Oakdale. Oakdale, california's big red annoying pimple!

Munchies from Ambien???

Image
Midnight munchies linked to sleeping pills Ambien users report short-term memory loss, uncontrollable binge eating. ---- ---------- -------------------- Rouge : IS THERE POT IN AMBIEN????? CHICAGO - Strange behavior by insomniacs taking prescription drugs, ranging from binge eating to having sex while asleep, have raised safety questions about anti-insomnia medications such as Sanofi-Aventis’ Ambien.Researchers in Minnesota are studying cases where insomniacs taking Ambien got up in the middle of the night, binged uncontrollably, then remembered nothing of their actions. The researchers expect to publish data shortly. Such sleep-induced side effects while on the medications have been around for years, but the incidence is rising because of an explosion in the drugs’ use, specialists said. Researchers haven't found a cause for the sleep-related eating disorder, although patients with a prior history of sleep-walking and women may be at higher risk, Dr. Michael Cramer Vo...

Happy Charshanbeh Soori!!

Image
Tonight is the last Tuesday in the Iranian calendar.. tonight is celebrated by persians all over and when you're a kid, you love this night!!! A few days before this particular night people go to the fields to pick and accumulate some dry bushes and shrubs, or, if in cities, they buy bushes from those who have provided them from deserts, mountains or fields. As soon as nighttime arrives, children throughout the country get ready with matches in hand to set the bushes on fire. By kindling them, firecrackers explode and illuminators are thrown into the sky, its really beautiful. When the dried bushes are ablaze, both the young and the old, either male or female, leap over the fire, which is a symbol of historic phenomenon that changed human life from cave ...

NCAA office pools

Image
Most of my fellow friends are working people... and with work comes office gambling. You know it happens and at my job, it happens for football, basketball and baseball. Is it legal? Not so much. Do I care? Not at all. I just came across an article online that has tips and tricks on how to win your office pool for NCAA Men's March Madness brackets. Here it is... remember I found most of this information on FoxSports so there's a link at the bottom to go directly to the article. I think this really puts the pool into perspective. C'mon ladies, jump on the next opportunity to get in a NCAA bracket!!! First Round: Don't pick the No. 16 seeds : It's ok to pick a few underdogs, just don't pick the BIG underdogs. Since the field expanded to 64 (or more) teams in 1985, No. 16 teams are 0-84 against No. 1 teams. Only one game — Michigan State vs. Murray State in 1990 even reached overtime. Two others in 1989, Oklahoma over East Tennessee State and Georgetown over Princ...

Golf lessons galore

Image
I have my 3rd golf lesson TONIGHT at Golf Smith's GolfTec in San Jose. These lessons have been life altering for me. The lessons are very high tech and involve being hooked up to all kinds of wires and movement measurement system. I can also access all my lessons online to see my swing, my improvements, compare myself to pros and also access my lesson plan for the week. I have to be at my lesson at 5:30 today and afterwards Neil is buying me my first REAL set of irons. THANKS BABE!! I have a set of clubs but they're all old sKool. They were cheap and while they were wonderful to start with, they're not cutting it anymore. I've been playing for a while so I'm ready to upgrade. Neil's getting me Cobra 3400 XH Graphite (See pic above). If you like golf, getting new clubs is a good day. Gerald, my golf coach, also recommended the cobras for a person who sucks, well that's perfect for me. This also means that Jouvan my awesome ass sis will get my old bag of clubs...

Some guys have all the luck...

Image
Man o Man, Have I got some news. I just read online that a Oklahome man found a 4.21 carat diamond ring during his FIRST ever visit to the Crater of Diamonds State Park on Sunday. What was his reasoning for being at the park? Martin Culver of Nowata, Okla., and his family decided on the spur of the moment to visit the park after watching a feature on the park Saturday on The History Channel. Crater of Diamonds State Park is the world's only diamond-producing site open to searching by the public. Here's a picture of the rock found by good ole Martin. Like I said, Some Guys Have all the LUCK!!

Guess who's backkk....

Image
Hello ladies and gents, I'm back from Edmonton and I'm ready to go! I woke up this morning at 4:30 am and its been non-stop ever since. I arrived in SF to be greeted by hail and snow on my way home. Yes. It was hailing in mountain view and then it started SNOWING in san jose !!! Can you believe it? I was shocked. I thought I brought some of the bad snowy weather back with me! Anyways, I was amazed to see Mount Hamilton along with all the other mountains surrounding San Jose full of snow... and at the lowest elevations in years, 500-1000!!! (Mt Hamilton's Snow Capped View) My trip was amazing and while I"m glad to be back I think that my Intuit OLB team made tremendous progress. I also had dinner with the Intuit Canada team we are working with. We went to this bad ass steak house and our bill was over $1000. I met the CTO of the Canada office too, his name is Carmen. He just turned 40 and he's already owned 2 Tax companies and has been the CTO at Intuit's Canada...

My trip update eh....

Image
This is where I'm at. The image to the left depicts my exact location on the planet. The time here is ONE hour ahead but the weather is a millions times different than San Jose, CA. First off, its freezing ass cold. BUT ass cold. Whatever you wanna call it. There is also a freezing rain warning in store for us tomorrow that's freaking me out. Woohoo!! What's freezing rain eh? Is that hail? Anyways, things here have been going great. Edmonton Canada is sooo much better than I expected it to be. First off we are staying at a pretty sweet hotel right downtown by the University of Alberta. The hotel Materra is super modern and has the best amenities ever. Intuit did us good. I have a CD player alarm clock for goodness sake! The Intuit office is also pretty nice too. Especially because I expected some dark creepy office. IT WAS A GAZILLION times better! Anyways, let me start from the beginning of my trip. There are 8 of us on this trip. We arrived late lastnight and upon our ent...

My Sister is fired up....

An email I just got from my lovely sis Jouvan Laali: I think we should start a petition to make sure this show [THE BACHELOR] is never produced ever again. I am so sick of hoping there will be a fun season for catty girls all trying to fall in love with the same guy to find a fairy tale ending. Thankfully I was not completely sucked into this past season, but I will admit I have wasted many hours of my precious time watching this crap. As we reported last week , the couple had already split before the finale even aired but now here’s the official announcement that Dr Travis Stork and Sarah Stone have broken up. No sh*T ABC. Let’s spend more time producing shows like Grey’s Anatomy and less time with crap like this that never works out.

Leaving in T-minus 1 hour

Image
Alright, I'm about to embark on my first ever journey to Canada eh. I'm excited and dreading it at the same time because I can't stand the accent people have there but I hear that Edmonton has the worlds' biggest mall. That's a toss up. I leave this afternoon and arrive in Edmonton around10pm. Yes. I'll miss American Idol. I'm well aware of that. Our days in Canada will consists of comparing/preparing Online Banking prototypes with the Intuit Canadian team. Upon my arrival back in San Jose, I will have Friday off to relax and prepare for another jam packed weekend. My packing didn't go as expected and I think I forgot more things than I thought. I didn't pack my contact water or my glasses. I didn't take my intuit secure ID token so I can't really work from the hotel, well that's not a bad thing... Anyways, I had a goodbye lunch with my sweetie at Chilli's where I enjoyed a Presidente all to myself and was buzzed and ready to go. Lunc...

Family Ties

Blood is thicker than water and I know that for SUREEE... I spent the entire weekend doing stuff with my beloved family and Neil's family. Friday night was a blur. I went to work and enjoyed sushi at lunch with my fabulous team. I then headed over to our last brainstorm session at work and met my Dad over at Mercedez for some car shopping assistance. Soon after my dad bough the car of his dreams, I headed over to Naazi's house where everyone in my family was meeting that night. Naaz made some fabulous mexican food and the rest of the night was a blast. Saturday morning Neil and I had to get up early and run some major errands because we had a packed day coming up. Neil's mom Linda came over with Jace. We were taking Jace and Aryana my cousin over to see Disney on Ice. The show was a ton of fun and soon after we went to the city for dinner and sight seeing. Having kids around all day isnt' easy. Man, you sure get a taste of parenthood while your babysitting. We got home ...

American Idol Update

Image
If you're an Idol fan like myself then you will find my blogs about A.I. interesting. If you're like Jouvan and don't watch it, well.... come back soon ;) So lastnight was the 2nd night of Idol. Tuesday night was the ladies followed by Men's performances on Wednesday. Gosh I wish I had better news about the woman but 80% of them were TERRIBLE HORRIBLE!! I do have a few favorites but even then, the songs they chose were dreary! However, the men on this year's "American Idol" tend to lack the star power of the women. They're all fairly nerdy looking... Especially Elliott and Kevin. Kevin is cute and all but I don't think his voice has the IT factor however Elliott, who looks like he came out of an amish farm looks dorky, he can sing like a mutha fucka. Kevin:Age: 16 Levittown, NY Elliott: Age: 27 Richmond, VA Chris Daughtry was one of the few idols lastnight to sing a hip newer song.. He sand Fuel's "Hemorrhage (In My Hands)" and everyo...
